Vítor Tedim Cruz was born in Porto, Portugal in 1974. Orvosi diplomáját az ICBAS-HGSA-n, a Portoi Egyetemen szerezte meg (1992-1998), utána neurológiai szakképesítést szerzett (2001-2005), majd ezután a posztgraduális képzés következett az egészségügyi rendszerek menedzsmentjének területén a Portoi Üzleti Iskolában (2009-2010), végül pedig az egészségtudományi és technológiai PhD fokozat megszerzése az Aveiroi Egyetemen 2014-ben. In 2015 he integrated the Epidemiological Research Unit at the Public Health Institute of the University of Oporto.
Legfontosabb érdeklődési területei a kutatásban a neurorehabilitáció, a kognitív és viselkedési neurológia és a cerebrovaszkuláris betegségek. He is the principal investigator and co-investigator of public funded scientific projects and co-author of international peer-reviewed articles indexed in Pubmed, 15 books and book chapters. Meghívottként idegtudományi előadásokat tartott az Aveiroi Egyetem Egészségtudományi Tanszékén (2006-2014). As a Senior Neurologist (2006-2016) he worked at the Neurology Department, Centro Hospitalar Entre Douro e Vouga, Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, where he ran a memory clinic and acute stroke care organisation. In 2011 he co-founded Neuroinova, a company dedicated to research and development of technologies in the field of cognitive rehabilitation and commercialisation of COGWEB®, Brain on Track® and CACAO® systems. He is a member of the board of the Portuguese Stroke Organisation (since 2011) and of the board of Neurologists of the Portuguese Medical Council (2012-2021). Since 2016 he is head of the Neurology Department and Stroke Unit at Unidade Local de Saúde de Matosinhos, Portugal.
